Miyamoto says Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be “really challenging”, Super Guide possible
BY Jarrod Johnston Nov. 16th, 2009 More on:

Nintendo just finished up a launch for New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and instead of taking a bit of a breather, they feel the need to get the hype train going for the next Mario game. That game happens to be Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Shigeru Miyamoto recently sat down to talk about all the hip happenings with the sequel. When the topic eventually led to the idea of the Super Guide found in New Super Mario Bros. Wii being featured in the game, Miyamoto said, ”Well, as far as the challenge of Super Mario Galaxy 2 is concerned, I think it’s going to be a really challenging game [yet easy?], but whether or not we are going to incorporate the Super Guide, I just cannot tell.”

Looks like they’re going with the same strategy implemented in the transition from New Super Mario Bros. to New Super Mario Bros. Wii: Lay the core foundation, and then make the sequel better and more difficult while building the things people liked about the first game. As someone who has spent the last two days enthralled with New Super Mario Bros. Wii, this sounds like a good plan to me.
