Mass Effect 2 DLC coming in “all kinds of shapes and sizes”
BY Rain Anderson Nov. 27th, 2009 More on:

BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk says they “absolutely” think about putting out downloadable content that’s comparable to the scale of what Bethesda released for Fallout 3 and, during an interview, without going into details said there’s some particular “big thing” they’re planning on releasing. But, with “pretty much” the entire team switching to DLC development once the game’s released, the DLC we can expect for Mass Effect 2 will come in “all kinds of shapes and sizes.”

“… we want to give the players the opportunity to pick and choose some of the big things, some of the smaller things,” he said, adding that they want to make sure players get the right value for the right amount of money. “So it can vary a lot in pricing”.

Cool. I’d love to see massive DLC ad-ons for this game. NOT new armor or new mods… on their own that wouldn’t be much fun, but introduce a few new planets in one DLC and you’ve got something most fans of the game will buy without fail.

Sounds like they’ve been planning DLC from the start this time. I have aa good feeling about this.

Not me… they’ve been saying this for a while now, and I’ve yet to see them keep their promises.

      @ Syron

Not really… they’ve only really made a big deal of it for ME2. They didn’t really plan for it during the first game’s development, but now they’ve actually gone out of their way to make integration easier and simpler.

They made Mass Effect 2 playable after the ending just so that the player wouldn’t have to start a new playthrough to experience DLC… trust me, they’re going to do better this time.

Sorry Mr. MannlyMan, Syron’s correct. Bioware went out of there way leading up to the ME launch to talk about how much DLC there would be coming & hinted they would be expanding the galaxy map in significant ways. They’ve since admitted they couldn’t fully integrate DLC (and were basically limited to individual worlds) because they didn’t program properly from the beginning.

There were MANY people who heard these promises & were bitterly disappointed with the 2 minor add-ons for ME. The worst part being, if you had already finished the game the new content was inaccessible unless you started a new game.

Personally, I think they’ve got it all figured out now & will definitely have more DLC than the original, but even I’m sceptical about claims of Fallout 3 levels of DLC. Hopefully, they don’t leave us hanging this time and make up for all the DLC promises from ME.

      People,

Look at what Bioware is developing. The Old Republic. Mass Effect. Mass Effect DLC. Take a good look at Mass Effect 2, play it, and then give opinions. This game is a perfect 10 of 10. A few glitches should not shame a game that revolves around story and plot. As for the DLC, I already Have Dragon blood armor, That Network Thing that starts with a C, The Normandy Crash Site, Zaeed (i Think), and I tested out another one early this week for Bioware. There will be Tens of add-ons for this game. Buy a big hard drive just for this game. You will need it. Cheers.
