Ubisoft has announced a new entry to the wildly popular Prince of Persia franchise, titled Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. With a Jerry Bruckheimer produced film coming out next summer and the last Prince of Persia selling 2.5 million units, another title was pretty much a given. In a conference call today, Ubisoft said that they are hoping to “reach both audiences” with this title, referring to both the hardcore and casual audiences. With that goal in mind, it’s clear Ubisoft is hoping to surpass the sales of the most recent game.
Not much is known about The Forgotten Sands other than that it will be a return to the Sands of Time story line and is scheduled for a May 2010 release. According to Geoff Keighley’s twitter, more information will be revealed when The Forgotten Sands gets its world premiere at the VGAs in December.

What!? No, no, no. I want a sequel to the last game not a rushed movie tie in. Damn it.
I completely agree – the Prince/Elika game is one of the best things to happen to the current generation of consoles, and now who knows how long we’ll have to wait for a proper sequel. Just goes to show you – when Jake Gyllenhaal takes his shirt off, terrible things happen.
Oh you crybabies :) I wouldn’t mind more of the new POP either but c’mon, has Ubisoft ever made a crappy POP? The Sands of Time was, is and will forever be awesome. More of that with today’s tech? Yes, please.
This if true blows. last game finished with unanswered questions, bad strategy.
