Updated / Ubisoft developing 10 Natal, 4-5 Sony controller games
BY Rain Anderson Nov. 30th, 2009 More on:

Update: Here’s the response Guillemot gave when asked how many of the new games are based on existing or new intellectual properties: “I didn’t count the games in fact that are supporting the new functions that those accessories will bring. I was more speaking about casual games that we are doing on those two machines; we can consider that on those games it’s 70 percent new property.”

Original story: During their first-half 2009-10 results call today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the company has ten games in the works for Project Natal that will be released within six months of the peripheral’s launch, and four to five titles for Sony’s unnamed motion controller. Guillemot also said 70% of the games will be new intellectual properties.

There was some talk about those being casual games though, we’ll get the exact quote once the audio becomes available.

Natal have not been able to impress me as of yet.
Sony’s motion controller looks pretty accurate as it is, but the lights are a bit silly…
Will most likely get Natal since I’ve yet to bother getting a PS3 tho…

natal is a really neat idea and i hope it works… but i really doubt it will. and what kind of games can you possibly play by waving your arms? lame games.

at least you can play traditional games with sony’s tech. looking forward to resident evil 5 awesome edition (if it is anything like re4 for wii)

      You people are retarted seriously…
NATAL = Disguised eyetoy ripoff (Do you even know what you are talking about? Have you even read anything about it (capabilities, tech) or are you just so scared little blind fanboy that you just automatically say that everything that comes from MS is shit. The Natal is years ahead of EyeToy and you know it.

      And about the Sony’s “dildos”:
I can see some some use for these but they are more lastgen when thinking that they are just like Wii’s controls. Natal is much much more. Does it hurt fanboy does it huh?

And you people are still using RRoD as an excuse? You FAIL hard now there matey. The problem has been worked out in the newer SKU’S. And you think why people will buy new 360 when their console brokes? There’s alot of reasons:
Xbox Live = The content it gives you mates :D
      Good games =
The exclusives are great and mutliplat games just runs and looks better (it has be seen alot of times).

Do you wanna know more? Buy yourself a 360, IDIOT :D

Crazy, crazy idea here. How about accepting that we all have different opinions and preferences? Sorry don’t know what I was thinking that will never work.

Am I supposed to beleive that Natal will replace a controller? Am I supposed to play MW2 for 6 hours, at night, by pumping my arms/fists in the air, the motion to signal “pull the trigger”? I think I will be pretty tired. Still waiting for clarification.

Natal is an advanced Eyetoy. While the tech inside it works better at detecting what you do, it will ultimately all come down to the programming and ideas developers come up with which is a totally different story from how accurate the hardware is. Basically expect to get on Natal what you got for teh Eyetoy, only it’ll work more accurate. All the pipedreams of artificial AI etc. are precisely that… pipe dreams that’ll never turn up. Frankyl all the things Natal showed were already being shown off as concepts for the PS3’s EYE. In fact the EYE already does most of the stuff Natal claims to be doing with games out now like Eyepet, and Milo can be compared to the EYEDENTIFY concept from E3 2005.

Sony’s Sphere Wand controllers are based on existing tech like the Wiimote that is proven to work and create unique schemes, and oddly enough the creator of EyeToy showed off these conceptual wands long before there ever was a Wii back in the PS2 era but it never took off then because the Eyetoy failed despite carrying all the same promises that Natal is selling you, though Microsoft is definately better and marketing PR than Sony was with the EyeToy or the Eye.

For Natal we can only fall back on comparisons to the EyeToy and the EYE. For the PS3 Sphere Wands we can draw allusions to the Wiimote, which is proven to work and wildly successful. And given that Sony has both the Sphere Wands and the EYE it can offer the best of both worlds by imitating both Nintendo’s Wiimote and MS’s Natal. So Sony definately has the upper hand. But it’ll all come down to who screams about their product the loudest and MS keeps a bigger megaphone for just such a purpose.

And thats why your an idiot, buy a crap machine that fails and then go out and buy another one.. im going to get rich by making a crap car and hyping it up and you will buy it and when it fails you will buy another one. Micro$oft doesnt have to make qaulity machines cuz they know their fanbase are idiots and will keep buying them anyway.
