There have been a lot of different rumors and conflicting stories surrounding the release of Yakuza 3 in the west but still no official confirmation from Sega. Now a further development has occurred with Amazon Germany listing the game with a release date set for March of next year.
Even though a representative from Sega had stated that the game was being localized, official word was never given that the 4th title in the series was heading to the west (4th is not a typo – the third title was an offshoot of the main series based in old feudal Japan). With sales of the first two games not being favorable in the states despite being a big success in Japan, Sega’s unwillingness to confirm release seemed to provide a grim outlook for western audiences.
Although Sega has not commented on the German listing either, it’s still a small beacon of hope for fans of the series. Now it’s only a matter of time before we see Shenmue 3 show up on Amazon Denmark. Hopefully.
