Mass Effect 2 shipping on two discs
BY Rain Anderson Dec. 4th, 2009 More on:

Mass Effect has put on some weight since we last saw it; Instead of the one disc that the first game shipped with, both the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Mass Effect 2 will come with two. Or three if you decide to get the Collector’s Edition, that final one holding ‘making of’ and other bonus materials.

BioWare’s reasoning is a simple and, considering what we’ve seen of the game thus far, an easily acceptable one. “Because you cannot fit this much awesome on one disc,” says community coordinator Chris Priestly who assures that swapping the disc will be a minimal annoyance, “… it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once. You do not swap back and forth. 1 swap and then done.”

The PC version does not require disc swapping once the game’s been installed.

    1. if the end result is an uncompromising product, then yea put that sucker on three discs if you have to. i don’t want my games handicapped in any way because they’re trying to squeeze them onto one DVD9.

very pleased to hear this. hey, maybe someone at Bioware will run with that and put it on a T-shirt: BioWare Games – “Because you cannot fit this much awesome on one disc”.

(personally, i’d rather see them sell that awesome N7 hoodie my avatar is wearing)
