Update: Looks like it’s pretty official now. “yes, new RE film coming in jan> 2011!,” a more recent Jovovich tweet says.
Original story: Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth installment of the movie series starring zombie bashing bombshell Milla Jovovich, might not be coming to life in August 2010 as originally thought. It was reported that the game-based movie would be pushed back until 2011, likely due to the 3D technology – a first for the series. The star of the movie herself then commented in a twitter post that this was not certain, then posted that she thinks it is certain.
“RE Afterlife IS NOT officially pushed. There have been talks of pushing it as they r not sure they can have it ready by july,” Jovovich said in her post on Monday. “We r trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment its still on for Aug.“
On Tuesday, however, Jovovich did not sound so hopeful for a 2010 release. “So I think we r definitely pushing the film till jan ’11. Boo! But we can’t rush it and hve crappy effects, so know it will rock!“
As long as the effects aren’t crappy I suppose it will be worth the wait. I only hope they don’t forget about the acting, the plot, and the dialogue this time around.
