Stargate MMO developer surprises with a team-based shooter

Firesky, the developer of the troubled Stargate Worlds MMO has revealed Stargate Resistance, a new class-based multiplayer third-person shooter based on the sci-fi franchise.

The game offers 16-player games, six classes to choose from, a variety of weapons (both Human and Goa’uld), three game modes (Team Deathmatch, Capture the Tech, and Domination, with more coming “shortly after release”), and serves as a trust-building exercise between the developers and the fans. “As well as building this new exciting product, paramount to Firesky’s long-term future is restoring your confidence and trust in us,” Creative Consultant Chris Klug says in a message posted on the official site. “Continue to stick with us. I know you’ll enjoy the fast-paced action Resistance has in store for you while we continue to work towards SGW’s release.”

Resistance is out in “early 2010,” on PC only. System requirements follow.
