It appears that fans of Twilight Princess should be looking forward to an experience that is much the same in the next Wii-based Zelda as the series director, Eiji Aonuma, has started to discuss the next game in the series more and more openly. Recently he told IGN that his team was building off of Twilight Princess in order to make a bigger and more expansive game.
“With Twilight Princess, we challenged ourselves to create the most vast and realistic world the series had ever seen, but we don’t feel that we were able to fully complete this objective,” he said. “With that as a starting point for our improvements to the series in the future, we are of course working on a new game for Wii.”
He explained further, “For any game to be remembered for a long time, just like Ocarina of Time was, the game must give the strong impression that it has set a new starting point for future sequels to build upon. We are working to further improve upon the experiences found in Twilight Princess so that our future games can realize these innovations.”
This sounds a lot like what they did with Majora’s Mask and the two DS Zelda games, which were based off of Wind Waker stylistically. I for one enjoyed Twilight Princess immensely, and would love to see them expand on the world and implement a few improved gameplay changes. What about you? Would a total revamp be better or are we looking at the right decision?
