Over a year ago we reported on the astonishing trailer released by the team responsible for the upcoming mod Black Mesa, a complete recreation of the original Half-Life game done in the Source engine. Though it was scheduled to be released in late 2009, we must report that Black Mesa has been in fact, delayed.
“Black Mesa will not make a 2009 release,” wrote the project lead in the Black Mesa forums, “Once again we apologize for what has to be very disappointing news. We placed a 2009 deadline on ourselves to motivate us and bring this 6 year project to a close. And while we didn’t quite make it, we have come very close, and you can expect a complete, polished game to hit your hard drives in the near future. We’ll be sure and update if anything changes.” Half-Life redone in the Source engine is a great prospect, but so is a polished game, especially if it’s a mod. It seems we’ll have to deal with the original Half-Life for the time being.
