First Left 4 Dead 2 DLC puts four and four together

The first piece of downloadable content for Left 4 Dead 2 will be released in early spring 2010, Valve has announced. Called “The Passing,” the content will bring the first game’s survivors down south “for a meeting” with the second game’s cast while delivering new single-, multiplayer and cooperative gameplay for both the PC and Xbox 360, along with an “uncommon common” zombie class, melee weapon, and firearm.

The Passing takes place after L4D2‘s Dead Center campaign in a small town where the new survivors will meet the old, and is an event that will be “the most important” one in the L4D story, Valve’s VP of marketing Doug Lombardi says.

New Survival, Versus and Scavenge arenas will also be included, along with a new co-op challenge mode.
