Sega appeals Australian Aliens vs. Predator rating

Sega has applied for the Australian RC (Refused Classification) rating its Aliens vs. Predator received earlier in the month to be examined by the Review Board.

The game was given the rating due to it containing “close-up depictions of human characters being subjected to various types of violence, including explicit decapitation and dismemberment as well as locational damage such as stabbing through the chest, mouth, throat, or eyes.” Shortly after, developer Rebellion issued a statement saying they will not be creating a “sanitized” version of the game, “It is for adults, and it is bloody and frightening, that was our intent.” So this appeal looks like the only chance the game may have to make it to Australian shelves.

The game will be re-reviewed this Friday, December 18. The process didn’t help Left 4 Dead 2 much, but we’ll keep an aye out and give an update should hell be freezing over any time soon.
