2009 NPD: Nintendo dominates, 360’s MW2 on top through November |

According to NPD data obtained by Industry Gamers, the Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 has became the best-selling game of the year with less than one month of sales. The data (Jan-Nov) also shows that Nintendo is dominating the rest of the top 10 with six games of their own, five of which are on the Wii.
The PS3 version of MW2 is the only game from Sony’s console while the 360 makes two other appearances with Halo 3: ODST and their version of Madden 10. Here’s the full top 10 list:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Xbox 360 - Activision Blizzard - 4.2 million
- Wii Fit (w/ balance board) - Wii - Nintendo - 3.5 million
- Wii Sports Resort (w/ MotionPlus) - Wii - Nintendo - 2.4 million
- Wii Mario Kart (w/ wheel) - Wii - Nintendo - 2.2 million
- Wii Play (w/ remote) - Wii - Nintendo - 2.1 million
- Halo 3: ODST - Xbox 360 - Microsoft - 2 million
- Pokemon Platinum Version - DS - Nintendo - 1.9 million
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - PS3 - Activision Blizzard - 1.9 million
- Madden NFL 10 - Xbox 360 - Electronic Arts - 1.5 million
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Wii - Nintendo - 1.4
If you do the math, Nintendo has sold 13.5 million units in the top 10 and represents over 58% of the games sold on the list. And remember, this is only through November, so we can fully expect sells to increase even more in December with holiday shopping continuing and New Super Mario Bros. Wii on everyone’s wish list.

I mean, what can you say? These guys are making money, still, hand-over-fist, and they’re doing it by not innovating, and not doing anything at all out of the ordinary. There’s literally not a single title among these I want to play. MW2 ? A sequel in it’s most common sense. Wii Fit? Sports? Mario Kart? Play? Same old stuff we’ve had forever. Halo 3 ODST? Mostly just another rehash of another title with a few bits tacked on. Pokemon? What Iteration are we up to?

And then we’ve got New Super Mario Bros… yet another Mario game that’s not as good as the games it tries to emulate. Because that’s all it does.
This is terrible for most all businesses aside from Activtision and Nintendo. And they’re being rewarded for being mediocre and samey.

New super mario Bros is amazing and when you play multiplayer you really do see how complex the level designs are it’s a genius game, therefore there is one great game on that list….theres a reason famitsu gave it a a perferct score..and im sure you fellow neeks know how hard it is to get a perfect score by famitsu.

Mario and Nintendo gang are struggle because they haven’t made anything different and MW2 [modern Warfare 2] has with sec ops and multi player is the best selling game for a reason.

MW2 is the best game this year handsdown.. and if you guys cant see that your obviously mentally retarted. idk if its just cause you suck at the game or you have not taste for online play. and thats what sold the game. halo and modernwarfare are the best titles on the xbox for a reason, because the multiplayer is phenominal. and thats all that matters, singleplayer oriented games are a thing in the past. youll notice all the best selling titles are online oriented. ps wii is the biggest joke to gaming. xbox has already made the wii look retarted when project natal releases. wow a motion controller that i can play shitty games with that look like N64. how bout no controller? natal> wii = wii gets shit on
