Spec Ops: The Line is a good kind of provocative, Lead Designer says

What comes to mind when you think of your favourite shooter? Exciting? Amazing? Mind blowing? How about provocative? Maybe not, but that hasn’t stopped Cory Davis of Yager Development using it to describe their upcoming title, Spec Ops: The Line.

Davis, the Lead Designer on the game, told Gamespot that “Spec Ops: The Line is the most provocative shooter you have ever played.” Call me pessimistic, but that doesn’t get my engine raring for this sandy shooter.

“It means, essentially, that we have a very strong focus on narrative in the game and we put the player into situations where you have to make decision between what is moral and what is necessary.” That’s more like it. Still, one has to wonder just how far these choices will go. After all, there are ‘morality moments’ in Army of Two: The 40th Day, and that’s not exactly set to be a soul searcher of a game.

The Line isn’t set for release until fiscal 2011, but with a sunny Dubai too shoot through and more sand storms than you can shake a stick at, we’re starting to get excited now.
