WoW’s Chinese future to be determined soon

The Chinese operation of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft has been offline since November of last year when NetEase was ordered to stop running the game by the Chinese government for potentially violating regulation. Finally it seems that WoW’s fate has be decided upon and will be announced sometime this month.

The two agencies holding WoW’s fate in China — General Administration of Press and Publications and the Ministry of Culture — have worked out issues between themselves and have reached a determination on if the current WoW operator NetEase has breached any of the strict regulations. If Chinese players of WoW are lucky, the game will come back online and hopefully get updated to Wrath of the Lich King, as they are currently still on Burning Crusade.
