The new Zelda game for the Wii will be seeing release this year, Satoru Iwata says. The Nintendo president was speaking to a Japanese newspaper about the company’s 2010 goals where the tidbit was dropped. Whether that’s a worldwide estimate or just applies to Japan wasn’t discussed, though the last Wii Zelda game, Twilight Princess, was released across NA/EU/Japan within a few weeks. So hopefully they’ll stick to a similar plan.
Iwata also spoke a little about the successor to the DS, “[It will have] highly detailed graphics, and it will be necessary to have a sensor with the ability to read the movements of people playing.” However, since the DS saw record sales in the US last year, Iwata didn’t find it was the right time to discuss possible release windows.
