December was a good month for Nintendo – its flagship console, the Wii, sold over 3 million units last month. When compared with the 2.14 million Wiis sold in December 2008, it’s clear that the system is currently experiencing a significant boost in sales. Yet, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata remains humble: “But I’m not sure if it’s prudent to use words like revival and recovery lightly before making absolutely certain we can maintain this momentum. So, I steer clear of such words today.”
Nintendo also received good news with the popularity of two certain Italian adventurers. Since its release on November 15, New Super Mario Bros. Wii has sold over 4 million copies.
