Ubisoft has said that the success of Just Dance is partly due to the rise of reality TV dancing and music shows. Speaking with IncGamers, an Ubisoft spokesperson said, “How are we feeling? Quite simply smiling from ear to ear.
“We’d attribute part of its success to the popularity of dancing shows on TV right now, something we tied our marketing campaign to with advertising during X Factor.” The spokesperson continued, “There were other strong promotional elements involved, but most of all it’s a fun and sociable party game that’s generated incredible word of mouth.”
Indeed it has. Earlier today it was revealed that the Wii-exclusive dance-em-up knocked the mighty Modern Warfare 2 from its perch on top of the UK all formats charts, ending a nine week run. The game enjoyed a massive 114% sales spike, week on week. Released in November last year, it debuted in the charts at number 100.
