That Sony will continue with a staple franchise like God of War after God of War III wraps up the trilogy probably doesn’t shock anyone. The question is, how will they continue? According to Sony Santa Monica director of product development John Hight, very carefully.
“This is not the end of God of War,” Hight told Gamervision. “This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we’re going to continue to do God of War games. We’re going to be very careful about what we do. We’re the keepers of the franchise and we don’t want to see it ruined or polluted.”
Hight didn’t give any hints as to what direction the series might take, however whatever’s next may be considerably different from what the series has done so far — Sony has hinted at a possible reinvention in the past, with Game Director Stig Asmussen saying last October that discussions about introducing multiplayer gameplay into the series have already taken place. And then there’s that whole first-person shooter idea.
