Expect Mass Effect 3 in about two years, BioWare says

BioWare expects to develop the final game in the Mass Effect trilogy in the same time frame it did the second one, Mass Effect 2 Project Director Casey Hudson says. The third game is already in the works and they “don’t want to take forever with it,” Hudson told MTV Multiplayer. “We want people to be able to conclude this trilogy that have been with us over the years… [Development will be] along the same kind of time frame as Mass Effect 2.”

Assuming that Mass Effect 2now just days from release — went into development when the first game shipped in November 2007, it’s taken just over two years to finish. Meaning we should expect Mass Effect 3 to arrive late next year or early 2012. Until then though, expect to see lots and lots of downloadable content in many shapes and sizes, “We’ve got a lot of DLC coming out for Mass Effect 2 that we’re also working on, and then we’ll kind of blend that into developing and finishing Mass Effect 3.”
