Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker isn’t just a spin-off despite being on PSP; series mastermind Hideo Kojima has made that very clear ever since showing it off at last year’s E3. This sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3/Portable OPS has all the makings of the next Metal Gear, so why not bestow it the title of Metal Gear Solid 5?
Kojima himself was recently faced with this question in the latest issue of the Official UK Playstation Magazine, “Since it is on PSP, I did not officially number it. But the game design, story, number of staff and budget-you can say that this is a big project. It would’ve been number 5. It’s not a side story or a spin-off. It’s not like Portable Ops or Acid. I am deeply involved and this is the next Metal Gear.”
So there you have it; you want the next chapter (even though MGS4 was the final chapter), Peace Walker is the place to go, sorry Metal Gear Solid Rising. Look for Peace Walker to hit, full of Kojima’s ideas on May 25th in the US, May 27th for EU.
