Industry prognosticator and Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter is predicting another round of price cuts for current-gen systems this summer. Pachter is betting that Microsoft will do one of two things in the coming months – either reduce the pricing of the current Xbox SKUs in the face of heightened competition from Sony, or introduce a new 360 model with advanced features for the same $299 price point.
As far as portable systems, Pachter doesn’t see anything positive happening for the PSP Go at its current price. Moreover, he expects 2010 will see a slight fall in Nintendo DS sales. The dip in sales will occur not because of a waning popularity in Nintendo’s handheld, but because so many people already own a DS.
