While Epic Games’ VP Mark Rein is “very impressed” and has expressed his enthusiasm for Apple’s newly revealed tablet computer as a gaming device, Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata saw “no surprises” in the reveal and calls it “a bigger iPod Touch.”
The words come from a chat the NYTimes attended where the Nintendo boss also questioned whether motion controls for the rumored DS successor and giving the Wii an HD upgrade would be enough to make people buy the new systems. Without going into any details, Iwata said Nintendo engineers are developing new hardware though.
3D gaming is also something the man’s not buying into, ”I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home. How is that going to look to other people?”
