It’s hard to believe Final Fantasy XIII is almost here. After a slew of titles from the franchise last gen, the four years it’s taken to show up on the PS3 and Xbox 360 have been a long wait. What’s been keeping Lightning a co? Well, if a fan translation of an interview Yoshinori Kitase is to be believed, it’s the PS2’s fault.
FFXIII nearly ended up being the PS2’s 4th main FF title. When the PS3 arrived however, the team decided to move the game over. According to Kitase, “That cost us about one and a half years and was constantly a case of trial and error,” which has pretty much led us to where we are today’ starved for the next installment.
With Final Fantasy XIV already out in the open, the wait for the next sequel shouldn’t be as long, that is if you consider an MMO to be a true sequel.
Final Fantasy XIII hits everywhere that isn’t Japan on March 9th.
