BioWare’s newcomer Mass Effect 2 has overtaken the crown from Just Dance in last week’s UK sales charts, despite the Ubisoft title enjoying a 16 percent increase in sales. The sci-fi epic was released on Friday, meaning it managed to topple the dance-o-rama title with just two days worth of sales. According to GFK Chart-Track, the Xbox 360 version of the role-playing shooter has had double the sales of its predecessor, while the PC version has tripled the sales of its counterpart.
Modern Warfare 2 saw a 3 percent drop in sales and dropped to third place while the second newcomer for the week, MAG (read our review here), debuts at number four. Top 20 follows.

With 2 million + sales world wide, you know BioWare is in negotiations for a PS3 release in the future. That’s a lot of revenue to miss out on. Ray Muzyka has also stated in a post release interview that the Mass Effect IP will not end with ME3. That BioWare will continue with the ME universe and it may or may not involve Shepard.
Very cool.
Glad to hear the news that the UKers like the game as much as we do (USers). Bring on ME3, Mass Effect Spin offs, etc.
As long as they keep the same quality of the originals, I’m fine with it appearing on more consoles or in new iterations.
And yeah, once the initial run on the 360 is over, expect Sony to be forking over a lot of cash to get a hold of that license.
