Excuse me, waiter, you’ve got some Soap MacTavish in my Dead Space

Well, this one’s sure to raise some eyebrows. As we all know, Dead Space was 2008’s pleasant surprise, a creepy, nail biting horror game. The action was muted, but the atmosphere made your skin crawl. You know, just like those psychologically suspenseful sequences in Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted…wait, what?

In a recent interview with IGN, Visceral Games senior VP Nick Earl compared the coming Dead Space 2 to the aforementioned high-octane action games. “I can tell you that we’re a little more focused on action horror as opposed to survival horror. We just created a really beautiful sequence that we’re showing internally — we haven’t showed it externally yet, but we will get it out there soon — that I think speaks to the high voltage nature of the game,” he said. “Some really strong action sequences that I think are on par with the level that we’re seeing in the Modern Warfare series and with the level that we’re seeing in Uncharted. Just beautiful, visual imagery and very electric action.”

Epic action sequences in Dead Space? Considering that the original game was such an awesome, unique experience, we’re just going to have to reserve judgment and keep our fingers crossed until they start showing off this next entry publicly.
