At 21.4 billion yen, Square Enix’s operating income in the nine months ending December 31, 2009 saw an increase of 67.7 percent over the previous year, the company has reported along with a 30 percent increase in net sales (135 billion).
The good performance is attributed to the Japanese releases of Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest IX. Batman: Arkham Asylum from their recently acquired Eidos branch was among the culprits responsible for the success as well.
