January NPDs: Sony, Microsoft switch, Nintendo leads all

The January NPD data is in and it shows that Microsoft’s home console has managed to outsell Sony’s once more. After being neck and neck in December with the PlayStation 3 having the lead, the Xbox 360 has made a quick post-holiday recovery and in turn outsold Sony’s hardware by ~56,000 units.

On the games front, Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros. Wii remained in the lead with 656,700 copies of the game sold, followed by the Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect 2 with 572,100 and Wii Fit Plus with 555,700 copies. More details follow.
