The PC version of Remedy’s psychological action thriller Alan Wake will not be seeing release, Microsoft has confirmed. Instead of returning to it after the Xbox 360 version is released as previously believed, it was found that the “intimacy of the PC” wouldn’t do the nature of the game enough justice.
“Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen,” a spokesperson for the company explained. “We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform.”
The Xbox 360 version was dated just yesterday — it’s out on May 18 in North America and May 21 in Europe.
