Heavy Rain already features heavy (pun not intended) use of the Sixaxis, Sony’s original motion controller built into PlayStation pads everywhere. Yanking the controller around will kick down doors, punch enemies, maybe if you’re lucky even do up your tie. That might not be enough for David Cage though; the Quantic Dream head is enthusiastic about that other motion controller coming to his interactive thriller.
During an interview, Cage stated, “The very first version of the game design was based on motion control, but it was not feasible at the time. But all the controls of the final version of Heavy Rain is still based on motion. I have a lot of interest in Sony’s motion device and there is a good chance that we announce something about it in the coming weeks.”
Looks like Heavy Rain is set to join the list of PS3 games getting on board the yet-to-be-named motion controller. For now though, you’ll have to make do with swinging your Dualshock around when the game launches next week.
