No motion control for Final Fantasy XIII, fatigue to blame

We all know that motion controls are all the rage now, at least from the perspective of the hardware makers, and whether we like it or not motion controls are coming to the major platforms. However, not everyone is on board the motion control craze train, at least Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase isn’t.

“These new type of controllers are very interesting, but we’re not sure that people would like to spend up to 100 hours playing a conventional Final Fantasy title with these type of controllers,” Kitase explained during a recent interview, going on to add that swinging a sword over and over again for hours might prove to be a little tiresome. “It could be too exhausting if you were always swinging a sword around for battles. So we will have to see what the future holds.”

While we’re all in agreement that motion controls might not be suited well for everything, we’re not so sure that it being “too exhausting” is the primary reason. It might simply be too distracting or perhaps it takes away from the gameplay which after all is most important, isn’t it?
