Skate 3 developer diary shows us friends have benefits

We haven’t heard much about Skate 3 since own very own Kristen Spencer went and got some hands-on time with an early build. In fact, it has been such a long time that we were beginning to think she broke the thing. Thankfully, Black Box have released a developer diary today and the game is looking better than ever, plus we get a little preview of the four-wheeled goodness headed our way.

One of the really cool things shown is the fact that our skating team can consist of player-created AI members, which will work just fine, but we are intrigued by the idea that we can import our friends’ characters and they will “take shape and form” in our world. The video also shows that those having trouble nailing a particular challenge can grab a buddy and have them score it for them. According to producer Chris ‘Cuz’ Parry, “Some times games let you co-op but you don’t get credit back out to your game for having completed that challenge. We said ‘no no, bring your friend in. He gets credit for that in his single-player experience and I get credit for it in mine.”

Skate 3 is slated to shred our PlayStation 3s and Xbox 360s this May.
