StarCraft II beta launches, information galore

It’s been a long time coming but the StarCraft II beta is finally here. Because of that Blizzard has been working non-stop preparing for the beta with the opening of the official beta forums and posting a long FAQ regarding what those who’ve been invited can expect. First and foremost, if you haven’t opted in for the beta and want to, you’ll need to sign up for a free Battle.net account and change the beta settings to “opt in” for StarCraft II. You might also want to allow Blizzard to scan your system so they have your specs on file as according the the FAQ it’s one of the factors in how beta testers are chosen.

Right now it appears that the beta will include ranked multiplayer matches in 1v1, 2v2 and free for all, as well as unranked matches. In addition to the beta, it appears players will also be test driving the new Battle.net system complete with friend lists and profiles. The FAQ contains too much information to list here so give the official page a visit for all the details.
