Discovered trademark patent filings suggest that the new Codemasters shooter, the one that won’t be “f***ing boring,” may be titled Bodycount.
Filings discovered by CVG show that Codemasters has successfully applied for the name in the UK Intellectual Property Office as well as The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Though Codemasters isn’t mentioned, The Industrial Property Digital Library in Japan has a record of the IP as well — filed a day after the US application.
Codemasters isn’t ready to confirm or deny though. “Codemasters regularly applies for and registers trademarks relating to current, future and potential projects,” a company rep said of the discovery. “We do not comment on the use of those trademarks until the appropriate time, such as a new title announcement.”
The game will be revealed in next month’s issue of OPM, on shelves on March 11.
