It’s a current trend in Hollywood for popular videogames to get a film adaptation – Max Payne, Hitman, Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Doom, to name just a few. There are also whispers of Splinter Cell and Kane & Lynch getting the big screen treatment, but for a game that is widely regarded as an interactive movie, is there really any need for a (less interactive) Heavy Rain adaptation?
New Line Cinema thinks so as documents reveal that they optioned the rights to turn Heavy Rain into a movie soon after “The Casting” trailer was unveiled at E3 2006.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s set in stone; it means that should a movie based on Heavy Rain be made, it will be made by New Line Cinema.
Anyone interested in a non-interactive movie based on an ‘interactive movie’?
