Fans of the mobile versions of Up, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, De Blob, and Wall-e have a bit of mourning to do today as THQ has announced the closing and liquidation of their creator, Universomo. The studio was picked up by THQ’s Wireless division in 2007 from Markku Hakala, who owned the studio for five years prior and only resigned from the managing director’s position earlier this year.
“We are very excited about digital gaming and have increased our investment in this area,” a spokesperson for THQ said. “We have more than 15 games and entertainment applications scheduled for release on mobile handsets this year. That said, we did place Universomo into liquidation. We have determined to develop digital games using a global network of external developers as well as our recently announced THQ Digital studios.”
