Don’t expect a Wii price cut this year

The Wii’s price point has often been a point of contention; Despite several price cuts from Sony and Microsoft, Wii’s price has dropped only once, and looks set to remain unchanged thanks to a lucrative 2009 for Nintendo.

“That tremendous strength we had in December really wiped the pipeline clean. Our pipeline, the retailer pipeline,” mentions Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s VP of sales and marketing, “so with that kind of demand, it doesn’t suggest the need for any pricing actions.”

It’ll certainly be interesting to see whether or not Sony and Microsoft’s forays into the motion control market has any effect upon that particular notion in the latter end of 2010.
