New Lara Croft goes isometric, gets first screens

Everyone’s favourite videogame heroine, Lara Croft, is set to return, though the game will not feature the Tomb Raider name, instead being titled: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

The first major change differencing this from Tomb Raider titles is the isometric view. Where previous outings with Ms. Croft had the camera positioned behind her back, in standard third-person fashion, this game chooses to have the camera positioned above the action, looking downwards.

The second is the ability to play the game cooperatively. Fighting alongside Lara throughout the game is Totec, a Mayan tribesman, who wields a spear and shield to overcome traps, zombies and whatever else you encounter.

Gamers will have to wait until summer to get their hands on it, and while no release platforms have been announced yet, I imagine it will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
