EA to publish 38 Studios’ RPG

Curt Schilling-led 38 Studios’ first title, codenamed Project Mercury, has gained the publishing muscle of EA, the company announced today. Developed under the watchful eye of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston, Mercury is said to be “an epic single-player RPG” penned by best-selling fantasy author R. A. Salvatore with artistic direction by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane.

Schilling, 38 Studios’ founder and chairman, says they’re in the process of creating “an enormous world” for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3-bound title, “with heroes and villains and a rich back story from the brilliant minds of R. A., Todd and Ken at its heart”.

Big Huge Games, a wholly-owned subsidiary of 38 Studios, is heading up development.
