Epic Games showed up at this year’s Game Developers Conference with the latest version of their Unreal Engine 3 and put it through the paces for the audience. While Mark Rein, the company’s VP, was not ready to talk about any projects slated for the game engine, he did show off some “ugly test art,” following that statement up with, “One day we’ll show you what we’re doing with this. When you see what we’re doing with this, it’s going to blow your mind.”
Rein’s presentation displayed several forest covered areas with a Mayan feel to them. This allowed him to show off other technical aspects of the engine, such as the manipulation of on-screen vines and demonstrating how easy developers could change things on the fly.
