Attorney-General Michael Atkinson, who’s been the name of the game as far as preventing Australia to get its mature game rating, is stepping down by the end of the 2014 elections. Until then, he will remain at his post but come that day, “I think there ought to be renewal in the ministry. I think there are talented people on the Labor backbench who deserve a go.”
The absence of Atkinson – who’s not very keen on Aussie gamers – in Parliament will bring hope of finally getting that mature game rating approved. However, whether or not Atkinson’s successors will share his philosophy and mentality remains to be seen.
