Nearly half of iPad launch apps are games

Despite no official intention to do so, the iPhone’s App Store has been making quite the name for Apple within the games industry. The accessible nature of the Store has drawn all manner of inquisitive developers; still, it does come as somewhat of a surprise to find out that roughly 44% of the Apps currently being tested for the Apple’s new iPad are games.

New data from analytics firm Flurry suggests that developers are eying up the iPad as the next platform to share the iPhone’s success. Such burgeoning support from developers, PopCap included, means just one more reason to invest in an iPad, even though I don’t really need one.

Hopefully this is a good indicator that we’re one step closer to having a truly portable version of Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn.
