Even though the team behind Nintendo’s WarioWare series never seems to run low on ideas for new kinds of bizarre and entertaining gameplay, it looks like they’re calling on some outside talent for their upcoming title, WarioWare D.I.Y.
The game will be getting DLC packs filled with quirky microgames from a number of notable developers, including Cave Story‘s Daisuke Amaya, Bit.Trip series creators Gaijin Games and Team Meat, the group behind indie darling Super Meat Boy.
5th Cell (Scribblenauts) and WayForward (A Boy And His Blob) will also be contributing to the planned downloadable content packs that should begin appearing on Nintendo’s WiiWare service on March 29th. To start things off, Nintendo is also offering microgames made by Super Smash Brothers‘ Masahiro Sakurai and Metroid creator Yoshio Sakamoto. Could this mean that these developers will be bringing characters and other elements of their respective franchises into WarioWare? Will I finally get to play a microgame where Commander Video shoots Wario in the face with lasers? Either way, if their track records are any indication, it seems like all of these contributors are poised to deliver something interesting.
