Oskari Häkkinen, head of franchise development at Remedy, considers the long-in-development Alan Wake to be the studio’s “masterpiece”.
The success of the Max Payne games allowed the Finnish developer to take the time it needed to comfortably finish the psychological action thriller — announced way back in May 2005 — he’s told Edge.
“Yeah, it’s been a long process. But [it’s been] a labour of love,” he said.
“We were in a fortunate situation after the Max Payne games – due to their success, we could take our time with this project. We didn’t foresee that this project would take so long, but what we did know is that we could only be as good as our latest game.
“So we always knew we wouldn’t put it out until it was ready. This has been our baby, our masterpiece.”
