Xbox 360’s 120GB HDD, memory units being phased out

Microsoft is going to phase out the Xbox 360’s memory units and the 120GB hard drive, Xbox Live’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb has confirmed. “…the channel is being drained” of the storage options, he told Joystiq at PAX East last week, presumably to make room for the recently announced 250GB stand-alone HDD and impending USB support.

The new hard drive is already on store shelves in North America and will become available in Europe on April 16. USB support will arrive via a software update next Tuesday, April 6.
