Halo: Reach beta offers a “huge chunk” of sandbox gameplay, say Bungie

The Halo: Reach beta is starting soon and, according to Bungie, it’s going to be big.

Speaking to Game Informer, Bungie’s Brian Jarrard revealed, “The public beta is going to include a huge chunk of Reach sandbox goodness.”

“I think players will actually be surprised at how much is there, but in order to maintain the core game experience and get useful feedback, we needed to include a well-rounded offering.”

Does this mean Halo: Reach will have given up all of its secrets by release time? Not at all, says Jarrard. “Suffice it to say there will still be surprises waiting in the final game this fall,” he added.

The full piece covers just about everything you could want to know about the beta, including the announcement of a new weapon, a Covenant sniper rifle that Jarrard promises will “reach out and burn your face off.

The Reach beta hits May 3.
