MW2 issues haven’t affected player numbers, IW says

Modern Warfare 2 may have offered quite the buggy online experience in the months following its launch but, according to Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling, only a fraction of players were ever affected.

Talking specifically about the care package glitch that allowed players to call in and abuse Harriers, AC-130s, Predator Missiles etc, the community man said, “No, there was no drop [in players]. Since people take this game very seriously and they play so hardcore – we do as well – you know that stuff gets a lot of attention.”

Out of their 25 million players, Bowling continued, “the people who experienced those types of things and even participate in those types of things are very very small – like one per cent of our user base.”

“So in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really impact the overall experience of the majority of players.”
