Ninja Theory hoping for a long generation

The next generation consoles won’t be coming any time soon, Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades believes and hopes. Everyone’s still busy “licking their wounds” and recouping investments, he says.

“I think people are going to hold off for a long time before getting on to the next generation. I think everyone’s licking their wounds and releasing new games to try and keep this current generation going,” Antoniades told CVG, explaining that developers are still making back investments put into the game engines and tech we see on current consoles.

Ninja Theory itself — currently working on the post-apocalyptic Enslaved — is hoping to make “at least a couple more games” before the next generation machines arrive, Antoniades added.

The developer’s previous project, the PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword, didn’t make a dime.
