Modern Warfare 3 suffers due to legal dispute

It was only a matter of time before we got the news. According to the publisher itself, Modern Warfare 3 exists.

In their recently filed counter-suit, Activision admits that due to the ongoing legal matters between them and the recently sacked Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, the development of Modern Warfare 3 was being delayed.

West and Zampella’s intent of wanting to form a new “spin-off” development studio was apparently “delaying pre-production of Modern Warfare 3“, a delay that was being used as “leverage in their negotiations with Activision”.

The publisher also claimed that “as a direct and proximate result of this breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, Activision has been forced to commit additional resources to Modern Warfare 3“.

So, even after the lawsuits, counter-lawsuits, staff interrogations and walk-outs… a sequel is still on the way, and probably just in time for fall 2011.
