Demon’s Souls triples NA sales projections, headed to Europe

Surprise PlayStation 3 hit Demon’s Souls has performed well for publisher Atlus. Recent figures from parent company Index Holdings show that the unforgiving RPG’s North American sales have reached 280,000 — well over three times the 75,000 the publisher projected.

European players who’ve stayed away from importing the title may soon be adding to that number as well; a listing found on the German ratings board suggests the game is finally headed to the region with Namco Bandai handling the publishing duties.

The success and word of mouth of the title has already ignited chatter of a follow-up as well, with speculation saying that a sequel may arrive as soon as this fall.
